Part 1 here.
After a quick survey via sms-s, Whatsapp, BBM, G-Chat etc, decided to head to Desa Park City instead of LG (rain, resting/day off, sore legs, injury).
Desa Park City Run – 22 August 2012
Route: 1 lap around Desa Park City
Distance: 6km (Garmin: 6.11km)
Timing: 31:42 for 5:11 min/km pace
Yay! Finally managed to conquer the ^*(%$#@!~ 800m hill. I’m beginning to enjoy running here – the first flat 2km is a great warm up before the slight incline at the International School before the turnaround for the climb. Despite the morning’s leg thrashing, the legs felt good (or as good as they could be) for the climb and I was able to keep Kenny within a 30-meter distance. I’m not sure what made the difference between this run and last week’s: (1) we started later (7:40-ish) and the temps had come down; (2) wasn’t too bloated from tea (I was positively hungry when we started – I work out best on empty or near empty stomach – even coffee or any liquid has been known to throw me off); (3) I wasn’t going to disappoint Kenny (both of them) and Kei Ming by walking – slower is ok but no walk breaks; (4) the view going to and at the top was absolutely gorgeous – the lights came on and gave me a much needed distraction.
The downhill after that was 100% quad thrashing and we definitely went too fast but hey, I loved it!
Taman Desa – 23 August 2012
Route: 1 lap around Taman Desa
Distance: 6km (Garmin: 5.94km)
Timing: 31:45 for 5:20 min/km pace
Despite spending loving time in my compression tights and sleeves after yesterday’s double (something I don’t usually do for short runs), the quads and glutes were still sore throughout the night and of course, this morning. Like majorly and royally wrecked. I considered calling off this morning’s date – I couldn’t fathom doing the Taman Desa Seputeh hills without doing it in a car (no, a bike would be equally painful, thank you very much).
No, you’re going out there; don’t disappoint Kenny.
But that doesn’t mean we couldn’t do a short one. I didn’t know which is the lesser of the evil: the hills at Taman Desa Seputeh or Taman Desa.
Even the first 2km flat Old Klang Road was tough – the quads cried resoundingly. The toughest 2km in a long time since I started running this route – most of it was chasing Kenny. Flat. Let me repeat: this was the flat section of the route. The muscles did “loosen up” as we turned into Jalan Desa but the hill…the long hill…the 1.5km hill…TOUGH but it seemed (operative word!) runable. Then again, I did go slow. Slower. A lot slower. Or not since I just wanted to get it over and done with.
Decided not to fark myself and do the Taman Desa Seputeh loop lest I end up in a wheelchair for the rest of the day. Oh wait, I shouldn’t even fark myself by trying to run with Kenny Wong either.
Bento Box Dessert:
Mangoes! {this was before I put it in the container last night}
