adiNation Training Run – 21 December 2011

Attendees:

a) “Boss” Ronnie (4 laps on his own)

b) Group Lead Kei Ming (evening stroll with Eileen!!!)

c) Lai (on his own)

d) KK (on his own – Inter-State route)

e) Vijay

f) Adam

Route: LG via Carcosa > Deer Park > Islamic Museum > LG + 1 lap around LG

Distance: 7.74km (Garmin)

Timing: 41:40 for 5:23 min/km pace

LG via Carcosa > Deer Park > Islamic Museum > LG (~5.45km)

I took this easy and tagged along with Adam and Vijay. Adam planned on tackling the hills and I guessed we covered most of it! Well maybe except Planetarium – the guy has this aversion to that part of LG – happened the last time when we ran my usual 6.5km before Aron left. This loop took us through a part of the SCKLM’s 10km route (Bird Park) and I could still see the “7km” paint marks on the road. I tailed Vijay who was going at a good clip with Adam about 1-2 minutes back. The pace was good and it gave the legs (and my heart!) a breather after Sunday’s race and the previous day’s tempo run. Plus I learnt a new route to try out!

1 lap around LG (~2.3km)

Vijay was still going at a good clip although probably a bit faster than my “imagined” recovery pace. Remember, I’ve always wanted a recovery pace of 5:45-6:00 min/km which if you’ve stalked this blog long enough, never did achieved for most part. The legs were doing OK and off we went. We passed Yeap before the turn off to the Deer Park and a part of me thought of following him before the rational me put a stop to things.

Today’s Workout:

a) Easy cross training on the elliptical cross trainer for a warm up before yoga.

b) Yoga class at the gym!

c) If I can get away early, maybe a short run after work with the adiNation KLCC team. BIG if.

It’s the Winter Solstice today which means one month to Chinese New Year! One month to go before we see Ash! Exciting times ahead. Back to the Winter Solstice – it’s a bit of a major celeb for Chinese households I’m told where everyone gathers for a meal and “tong yuen” (glutinous rice balls in ginger soup). It’s not big in our family so it’ll be another day for us. Definitely looking forward to Chinese New Year though. Enjoy the festivities if you guys are celebrating tonight.

Thursday’s mantra: 3Rs - Rest, Re-hydrate, Re-fuel.

Xmas Countdown: 2 Days
