Traffic Dodging cum Hill Training – 23 April 2013

Route: Le Chateau [doesn't this sound classy?]- Taman Seputeh
Distance: 5km (Garmin: 5.23km)
Timing: 30:10 for 5:46 min/km pace

Recovery run on the cards this morning after the weekend’s back-to-back; plus Kenny was zzz after yesterday’s long day. Nice easy run in the cool morning with no expectations on pace, just dodging traffic.

1st half (2.578km; 15:19)
Kenny had wanted to bail out but decided to go ahead and warned me that he’ll be slow. Was trailing him for about 100m before he stopped to do his shoelaces and he urged me to go ahead. This week, I decided to run on the other side of the road ie against traffic not that there were many vehicles out there at 6am. The first half is usually a net uphill…no, the entire route is a net uphill.

2nd half (2.647km; 14:49)
This was the nightmare section!!!! Dodging vehicles + smog! At this rate, I’ll probably need a lung transplant by the end of the month. Upside: fantastic training for KL road races ie dodging traffic that comes to you in all directions!

Felt a bit strong at the turnaround and decided to run uphill (yes, you read that right!) before turning back to the main road heading back. In fact, even planned on running uphill (what’s got into me?!?!?!) past Le Chateau. Spoiler alert!

Plans were thwarted – just too many vehicles.
