Desa Park City and Taman Desa Seputeh Trainings – 5 & 6 June 2013

Wednesday’s {Second/Double} Workout

Route: Desa Park City
Distance: 6.91km (Garmin)
Timing: 45:32 for 6:35 min/km pace

Lap 1 (2.610km; 22:32)
Walking tour of DPC with the LYN group last night! Y is training for this weekend’s Master’s Championship and R was nursing a sore ankle from the weekend’s marathon. So it was a chit chat walkabout with Y and I leading R; hey, he training for the 5,000m walk…so it has to be at a faster pace. Plus it was a cool evening after the afternoon’s downpour. Definitely enjoyed this lap. And the next. And the next too.

Lap 2 (2.146km; 11:52)
Y dropped back with about 50m in the first lap and since it was a nice evening, I gave in to the legs’ urging and did an easy jog, eavesdropping on some convos along the way.

Lap 3 (2.156km; 11:05)
Continuing with the easy jog mode and bumped into/waved to K around km2. And we’re done after that. Perfect timing too since Y and R were finishing.

Thursday’s Workout

Route: La Chateau – Taman Desa Seputeh
Distance: 8.44km (Garmin)
Timing: 45:23 for 5:23 min/km pace

Home to train station with Desa Seputeh loop (5.934km; 31:41)
Another cool morning – really gotta take advantage of this while it lasts! Plus there’s less traffic on the roads these days (at least until this weekend) with the school holidays. Kenny took the lead and I was just tagging along although I had earlier vetoed his plan for a 5 min pace. Skipped the Seputeh Heights and first loop around the train station – hey, I {rarely} question the captain’s instructions and put my head {or maybe legs in this case} in following the pacer. See, no need to think or overanalyze stuff.

Only one downside to this stretch – being chased by some dogs at the end of Lorong Syed Putra Kiri…and that was only 800m into the start. No wonder we hit sub-5 here! Oh don’t forget the rolling down the hills.

Usual climbs for the rest of the stretch.

Train station to home (2.504km; 13:42)
As the pacer skipped the train station loop, he was further upfront but definitely in sight. So follow the bright yellow vest and keep going.

Quick question for you guys: have you seen this in supermarts around town? My brother is asking my parents to import it for them but we haven’t been able to get them in KL or Selangor supermarts. It does look like it’s for the export market but he tells us that he was able to get off shelves in Miri.

Thursday’s Mantra: 3Rs - Rest, Re-hydrate, Re-fuel.
