Three {Run} Things Thursday

1. Guess everyone’s talking about the postponed BIM 2013; will not add anything that’s not been discussed, dissected, analyzed etc to death. I’m sure the organizers did their level best to avoid having to postpone or cancel this event – you just don’t plan and organize everything a year ahead to cancel it. Pure bad luck that the election date/weekend was on the same day as the run. Anyway, whatever you decide to do (and I don’t recommend throwing brickbats at the organizers), bear in mind that things happen for a reason and purpose in life; may not be obvious or visible now.

2. Nursing a wee bit of a shin splint after yesterday’s 13 miler; first one in ages and definitely since the stress fracture. Had a fantabulous time going easy and chit-chatting with the LYN runners. So what’s there to do today except an active recovery date with the elliptical and feeding the giant appetite that I seemed to have developed overnight!

3. This is scary and I’ve not gone past Chapter 1. It talks about “cumulative fatigue”, “don’t beach yourself on the couch after a tough session”, “go out and run easy”, “active recovery” etc. I flipped a few pages and discovered to my horror some of the “recommended paces”. Don’t bring it on! LOL! Has anyone read or is currently going through the programme? Thoughts?

Thursday’s Mantra: 3Rs - Rest, Re-hydrate, Re-fuel.
