The Simple Life

Had a quiet, easy and relaxed 3-day weekend (Independence Day); the pleasures of a simple life included

Shopping for some beauty stash to pamper myself

Home mask. I also had a facial session and manicure & pedicure sessionon Saturday – and since it was the long weekend, not many ladies were at Sharon’s and Shearley’s places.
Unpretentious dinner at home of parboiled misoya noodles with stirfried tofu, baby corn, carrots, peas.

Capped off the weekend with a gentle yoga session at Manasa Yoga. Trying out both the center and class and I must say I enjoyed it. This was more of an Ivengar style class where we worked on our alignments with props and held the poses slightly longer. I prefer a more toned down yoga session in the evenings while a more rigorous sessions are reserved for the mornings. Something about having an afternoon nap to recover from that perhaps?

Did managed to put in 3 runs and 1 strength training though but all of them were done and dusted before lunch. Here’s Sunday’s set up

Supersets of:
a) Free-standing pull-ups (I find “tremendous joy” in this)
b) DB bendover row

Single sets of:
c) Technogym cable upper back row (my left is so weak that Mike had to support me from very early on)
d) Technogym cable mid-lower back row

Supersets of:
e) Technogym cable criss cross rear delt row
f) Kettlebell bendover row

Supersets of:
g) Leg raises
h) Ab crunches on fitball

Trust Michael to put you through a tough session! My arms, back and lats are super sore today. But we were not finished yet…this morning’s Chest & Pecs.

Single sets of (with dropsets):
a) Smith machine bench chest press (not sure if it was intentional but Michael didn’t load up as much or as quickly today; not that it was easy, it never is)
b) Smith machine incline chest press (apparently we weren’t done with dropsets on the I-thought-was-the-last-set because really the last set is an all-out lighter weight + high reps)

Supersets of:
c) Technogym cable chest fly (this is turning out to be Michael’s favourite machine for flys since we’ve not gone near the LF ones in weeks!)
d) Push-ups on Bosu

Supersets of:
e) BB bicep curl
f) {Volunteered} TRX push-ups

Single set of:
g) Abs on roller

So glad, for a one day respite before we tackle the next muscle group. Oh yeah, did anyone read the article that appeared in The Star yesterday? It’s on cross training, mixing things up and NOT just running or doing a single exercise. This just reaffirms my belief that you don’t need to run every single day or just run. Yes, I’m looking at you TPC!

In the meantime, have a wonderful week ahead.
