Taman Desa Hill Training – 13 December 2012

Route: Taman Desa
Distance: 6km (Garmin: 5.97km)
Timing: 36:47 for 6:09 min/km pace

2 months since tearing the hip flexor, another 4 more months to full recovery. Figured it was about time to test the legs although Dr Ling and Michael wants me to take it super easy i.e. no paces below 6 min/km for the moment or rather for the next few months. I should be able to keep up with Kenny’s 7 min/km pace.

It was a beautiful morning today, especially with the overnight rain and more importantly, an extra 45 min of snooze! Completed a deal at the beginning of the month and have been able to leave the office right on the dot (ok, variance of 30 min!) for the past 2-3 weeks, hence the daily masking (gotta take care of the face!), earlier dinners and bedtime. Even the DOMS didn’t put a dampener on the hip – there’s still a niggle and my movement is limited, no pain though – that’s the only reason I’ve been allowed to walk, jog, shuffle etc. I’m guessing the next few months will be more of the same: walk, jog, shuffle and rest but hey, this surely beats the elliptical.

And and and I just realized why I’ve been rundown and exhausted all week – every run (everyday this week!) has been followed by cross training on the elliptical cross trainer and on 3 days, this continued with strength training. Plus, there’s evening yoga. Bah!

Onto more good news…today’s my last day in the office for the year!

In the meantime,

Thursday’s Mantra: 3Rs - Rest, Re-hydrate, Re-fuel.

keep working that recovery and as hard as it is, stick to taking it slow coming back. it's not worth getting hurt again! :)
and HURRAH for the last day of work!
